Since its inception in 1973, the Sushrut-Adler Group has believed in
continuously expanding its horizons. The development of a strong trauma
portfolio, the recognition gained as a significant player in spine and
reconstructive orthopaedics and the creation of a strong and trusted
Indian brand have all been important stepping stones towards
establishing a global presence.
Sushrut's presence now extends throughout India with a network of 140+
distributors and internationally in 28 countries.
Product Innovation has been the hallmark of Sushrut for many years. Early innovations focused on important design modifications to instruments, based on surgeon feedback, to make them more user friendly.
Today, the Sushrut-Adler group has a well developed research and development setup that complements design ideas and new product suggestions from surgeons and development engineers with sophisticated design tools like Solid Modelling and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to refine implant and instrument designs. All new implant and instrument systems undergo extensive design validation through biomechanical testing using either established standards and protocols or in house developed protocols where external references are not available.
Sushrut has been committed to surgeon education activities since 1993,
regularly organising seminars, workshops and courses. The recent
inauguration of the Sushrut Learning Center is confirmation of
Sushrut's commitment to supporting and working with surgeons.
Sushrut's strong surgeon driven approach is ably complemented by the
cutting edge manufacturing infrastructure at Adler Mediequip, the
primary manufacturing company for the group. Adler Mediequip
manufactures all brands marketed by Sushrut using its own state of the
art manufacturing facilities complemented by contracted manufacturing
facilities located in Germany, Switzerland and the U.K for specific
products.
Adler has many
distinguished first's to its credit, being the first Indian orthopaedic
manufacturer to achieve the ISO 9001:2000 quality system certification
in 1999, the first to achieve the CE certification in 2003 for its
entire product range, and, the first
to receive the prestigious ISO 13485 medical devices quality system
certification in 2006. In keeping with its quality leadership
status, Adler was also the first Indian manufacturer to complete
application formalities for the newly introduced Indian regulatory
process in 2006.
These are probably the most important reasons for the leadership
position the Sushrut-Adler group enjoys in the Indian market
today, a fact that has been confirmed externally through a survey by
Datamonitor (a Reuters Group Company), an international rating agency
in 2002.
Combining the best of technological expertise with native ingenuity and
innovation, the group believes that its partnerships with innovative
surgeons and the creation of cost effective solutions will find an
increasing place in tomorrow's world.
