Ajay Pitre, the Managing Director of the Sushrut – Adler Group, has played an instrumental role in the growth and development of the Medical Device industry in India for over two decades now.
Ajay is a member of the FICCI Medical Device Forum and the current Chairman of the CII MLED. He is also a member of the core committee advising the government on the formation and implementation of the Medical Devices Regulation standards in India.
Ajay’s experience in the Indian medical device market makes him believe that, “India has a phenomenal potential to be a global base for medical device innovations”.
“We gain strength from our customers’ trust in markets where both Western and low-cost alternatives are available in plenty. On the back of this confirmation of self-belief, I consider the Sushrut – Adler Group in a position to not just be a meaningful player in the Indian context, but also one that effectively caters to the fast growing needs of patients in the less affluent markets.”
“We believe through our experience that we are well placed to make this happen and position ourselves as a cost effective solution provider in the orthopaedic space to the large majority of the world’s population while meeting the highest standards of safety and innovation in products.”
For a company of our size, this is indeed a large vision. But as Leo Burnett once said, “When you reach for the stars, you may not quite get there, but you will not come up with a handful of mud either”. Ajay’s expertise and dedication are probably the most important reasons for the leadership position the Sushrut – Adler Group enjoys in the Indian market today; a fact that has been confirmed externally through a survey by Datamonitor (a Reuters Group Company) in 2002.
