Sushrut showcased their soon to be launched proximal femoral reconstruction nailing system, Atlas Proxima at the recent NAILSCON 2007 in Goa.

Nailscon 2007 was attended by over 500 delegates, orthopaedic and trauma surgeons from all over India.

The pre-conference workshop on the Proxima system was attended by close to 400 orthopaedic surgeons.

The PROXIMA system is being developed in close co-operation with two major trauma centers in India, the Sancheti Institute in Pune and St. John’s Hospital, Bangalore.

In the pre-conference workshop lectures, Dr. Chetan Pradhan of the Sancheti Institute spoke on the Design Considerations of the Proxima system, Dr. Atul Patil, also of the Sancheti Institute presented the surgical technique for the Proxima system and Prof. Rajagopal, Head of Department of Orthopaedics at the St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore, shared with delegates the Early Multi-centric experience with the Proxima system.

Our Workshop faculty, Prof. Rajagopal, Dr. Chetan Pradhan, Dr. Atul Patil and Dr. Rajesh Shah (Vadodara) answered questions and assisted delegates in the hands-on workshop.

Mr. Ravi Sarangapani, our Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, updated delegates on the recently introduced regulation of medical devices in India.

Workshop delegates reacted enthusiastically to the new system with special appreciation reserved for the high quality instrumentation, the radiolucent proximal locking jig, the excellent finish and rugged construction of the instruments and the cannulated option provided for the upward locking screws.

The early bird pre-launch offer for the Proxima system for NAILSCON delegates was well received with a number of bookings.

Proxima will be formally launched in India at the forthcoming IOACON 2007 in Kolkata (Dec 2007) and will be launched internationally at the MEDICA 2007 in Duesseldorf (Nov 2007).
